The Classics
Barbour, the famous British outerwear company, was founded in 1894 in South Shields. Today, it is a fifth generation family owned business with three Royal Warrants to its name. Barbour's classic wax cotton jackets — their signature pieces, with names like Beaufort and Bedale — are still manufactured, by hand, in the factory in Simonside.
