In 1842, a 22 year old Jules Dormeuil began importing English cloth into France. The venerable firm's list of innovations include the first woven selvedge (on its "Sportex" line of the 1920's), and its renowned "Tonik" book of 3-ply mohairs (first introduced in 1956). To this day, the House of Dormeuil remains under the control Jules's descendants, and still produces some of the world's finest cloth.
