Peter Millar was founded in 2001, but the idea of Peter Millar goes maybe 100 years to the day an avid English lawn bowler named Peter Millar had his name inscribed on his lawn-bowling balls. The original Millar is long gone, but one of those balls found its way to North Carolina clothier Chris Knott as a gift. To Chris him, the inscription symbolized everything he loved: timelessness, luxury, the sporting life. He took the idea and built a company that epitomized American luxury: a crisp look but still comfortable, golf course-ready but still fashion-forward.
