Wolverine Boots are recognized for a legacy that dates back to 1883, but their roots actually reach two generations deeper. It was just after the Napoleonic Wars when Wolverine founder G.A. Krause's grandfather, Valentin, set up a tannery in Thierenga, Prussia.

Valentin's son Henry carried the skills with him as he emigrated to Michigan 1841. G.A. learned the trade from his father and took the industry to Grand Rapids, and then to Rockford, MI, a town that was without electricity until G.A. dammed the Rogue River to lay the groundwork for a factory and tannery. More than a century later, Wolverine continues to set the bar for fine, American crafted, boots for men that demand a little comfort along with ruggedness and durability.
