The Monet linen shirt from Alexander Julian is a series of estate designs based on the textures of painter Claude Monet. As Alexander Julian points out, "Color in nature is incredibly complex. 'Solids' are sometimes thousands of subtle variations of the same color. Monet understood this, and had the ability to combine hundreds of colors to achieve the harmony that is nature." The resulting shirts similarly blend grades of color variations to create rich, textural solids. Please note that due to the painterly nature of these shirts, natural imperfections in the fabric will occur.
Alexander Julian is a second-generation clothing designer from Chapel Hill North Carolina. His influence on men's clothing has ranged from basketball--he designed the original unifom of the Charlotte Bobcats NBA team, and gave the University of North Carolina Tar Heels NCAA team uniform an update--to contemporary, art and architecture-inspired clothing designs.
