About Gold & Wood
Gold & Wood produces the highest quality eyewear, from the most desirable natural materials, in beautiful, timeless designs.
Manufacturing Every Gold & Wood frame is handcrafted, one by one, in their Luxembourg factory. The manufacturing process is designed to minimize ecological impact, from the non-toxic dyes to the strict protocols for waste management.
Materials As the name suggests, the essence of Gold & Wood frames are the beautiful natural materials from which they're crafted. Metal offerings include aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel with a 3-5 micron, 18k plating in yellow, white, rose, or black gold, along with platinum, ruthenium, rhodium, and palladium. Finishes can be shiny, satin, matte, or brushed. The proprietary spring hinge is built by a Swiss watchmaker. Their woods, which are waterproof, hypoallergenic, and lightweight, come from an FSC-certified supplier. That means they're harvested from sustainable plantations, not taken from rainforests. Woods used include ebony, tanganika, amaranth, and bubinga (among others). The famous horn comes from the water buffalo, and can be had in buttered, marbled, green, or white/black laminate finishes. As (another) natural material, no two pieces are exactly alike, ensuring that horn frames from Gold & Wood are truly unique.
Lenses Every pair of glasses is prescription ready. Non-Rx options include regular sunglass lenses, polarized ones, gradient polarized (Gold & Wood is the only maker we know of who offers these), and 18k or 24k white or yellow gold plated lenses.
Customization Perhaps best of all, Gold & Wood specializes in made to order eyewear. While we stock a handful of styles, and can source anything found on the Gold & Wood website, we also offer the option to customize a pair of glasses. Given the wide range range of styles and materials, you have tens of thousands of choices at your fingertips.
